removing paint

What will take off interior paint, off of cement steps???
It has been there close to a year.

  • How much paint? A few drips or was the steps painted? Are these outside steps or inside location?

    outside steps and it was just some big spots..kinda like drips.
  • A good stiff wire brush and elbow grease often can do the trick. You can purchase small cup wire brushes for your drill that work nicely. Just be careful so not to wear a hole in the cement using them. Also wear eye protection with those brushes as they to tend to loose wire when spinning. You want to be careful when using any paint stripper or chemicals that will dissolve the paint drippings as it can spread to other parts of the cement. Power washing will work, but careful on that because you could end up removing some of the cement surface as well.

    Wire brush or hard bristle scrub brush and some Simple Green. If it's oil based paint you'll need to ask a pro painter for the correct solvent.
