    I have never seen one, so I googled it. This picture shows it on a hand...ewww, but good for a sense of size. http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/bed-bug-1-400.jpg

    @Lori, that is a good pic, never seen one myself and now I know.
  • Janis, can you take a photo of this bug. If not can you put it in a small jar and bring it to your local co opp? They can identify it for you. By what you said it sounds like bed bugs. In any case, regardless of what it is that you have it can be fixed fast. You need to strip your bed of all the linens, And clean them in the hottest water you can without ruining them. Take your vacuum and carefully vacuum your entire mattress and box spring. All sides top, bottom. If you have a carpet on the floor, that too needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Pay attention to all crevices and tiny gaps around walls, moldings and around the edges of the mattress bindings. This is where most bed bugs if that is what you have hide. Bedbugs can be the issue. But caught early enough along with a good cleaning you should be fine. Here is a good link that can provide you with more information about these Bugs http://www.orkin.com/other/bed-bugs/ They do make products for self help, but having a pro do spraying for you is your best assurance against a larger infestation.

    When I grew up in the country as a kid, the mattresses and springs were laid flat outside on a sheet in the sun all day. Half a day on one side and half a day on the other side. This was done in spring and before winter ! You aired and sunned your bedding regularly...all quilts were hung out to sun. Even after cleaning, I would sun my bedding! All of it! Even after washing! If you even suspect these are bedbugs, do not delay in acting to get rid of them even if it means getting new mattresses and box springs.

    ubbing alcohol.sprayed onto bed bugs will kill them instantly. This country did not have them Bc of DDT. Now they are back ! Spray your air condionting unit inside with alcohol. I think they come from the ground at night. :-{

    If its bed bugs the sooner you Identify and act the better off you are. they are extremely small at first and as adults they are the size of a tick. The blood stain on the sheet is of concern you can look at our website kellerpest.com go to pest library to see look at bedbugs. It could be something else. But you need to do homework and make sure. if it seems to be bed bugs you can call me and I van advise you over the phone. Everyone should be aware that bed bugs are for real and very. very prevalent. You can bring them home in your suitcase, you can have guests bring them, even get them at movie theaters. I am in the industry and my daughter got them by renting a room for the summer at college. I could have killed her. !!!! Just realize they are common and there are some easy inexpensive steps you can take to avoid them. But once you get them its extremely expensive and difficult to eliminate them and the preparation is a nightmare. So be aware and save yourself a lot of headache.
