Glass Bottle Upcycle

Not that you need a reason to drink tequila, or to upcycle, but if you happen to have an empty bottle around, or if the bottle isn’t open, go ahead and open it! Here is a fun project using only a few different supplies. It doesn’t have to be tequila by the way! You can do this with any type of bottle.
I really just loved the thickness of the glass of this bottle. After it was emptied, the first thing I saw was a future lamp.
The first thing was to clean it. I soaked it in warm, soapy water and then scraped off the label. I used a little Goo Gone to get the straggling pieces from the label. Then, ran it through the dishwasher.
The next part was to drill a hole using a glass/tile cutting drill bit. You can find these at Home Depot or Lowes by the other drill bits. I used some painters tape to mark the drilling spot. And while my wonderful hubby held the drill, I slowly poured water so that it didn't get to hot. Otherwise, the glass will crack.
I used a "hammered" paint to spray the bottle - mostly because you can't mess that up! After two coats of the spray paint, I sprayed two coats of Polyurathane for some "bump" protection. While this dried, I painted the lamp kit - it came in a bright brass color and I couldn't have that. When all paint dried (about 24 hours) I assembled it. The lamp shade came from Home Depot, but I added some "embellishment" with magnets and flowers that I had laying around. I love it!
