Got 5 Minutes? Give Your Mirror An Anti-Fog Treatment

Mornings can be stressful. And little things – like a fogged up mirror after a long, steamy shower – can make them ever worse. To prevent your mirror from being totally useless when you’re getting ready before work, give it a 5 minute anti-fog treatment. With the treatment, you can spend your mornings planning how you’ll conquer the day instead of worrying about seeing your reflection.
Here are two ways to give your bathroom mirror an anti-fog treatment:
Vinegar + Hot Water

1. Mix 1 quart boiling water + 2 tbsp. vinegar.

2. Dip a coffee filter in the solution.

3. Wipe down the mirror with the coffee filter. Make sure to let it completely air dry!

Shaving Cream + Paper Towel

1. Place a dollop of shaving cream on your mirror (Barbasol works great).

2. Polish your mirror with the shaving cream, using a few paper towels. The residue will act as a barrier to condensation, which prevents the surface from fogging.

That’s it! These anti-fog treatments will last up to three weeks, but we recommend applying the de-fogging solutions every time you deep-clean your bathroom. For more tips on cleaning and caring for your mirrors, read: The Best Way to Clean Your Mirrors (http://bit.ly/1vMil3m).

I've used the shaving cream method for more than 20 years, and it works great. It will leave a bit of extra "shine" on the mirrors, but if you gently buff it with a microfiber cloth after applying, that weird shine usually goes away.

@BrightNest I can't claim any credit for it. I think I read about it in a Hints from Heloise column or some other newspaper advice column, or perhaps a magazine. I know I didn't come up with it myself.
