Get a Cement Look With Paint and a Little Texture Product

I'd been out on a quick thrifting excursion and found this pretty woman's bust. I passed it up when I first walked in, but for $5, I couldn't leave it behind. The size was perfect and it had lots of potential, but it was ceramic and wasn’t the look I wanted. I was totally envisioning an aged cement look. I got it home and after giving it a half hearted wipe down, the transformation from ceramic to cement began! Here's how it went down!
You can see the piece was smooth, so using my chip brush, I painted on some Fusion Sandstone Texture and stippled as I went along, making sure that too much of a pattern wasn't developing. The Fusion Sandstone is AWESOME, but an alternative would be to use @rustoleum texture spray paint.
This is the texture after drying. It dries pretty clear.
I added a base coat of paint to cover up the underlying color. After it had dried, I applied a similar color milk paint in order to achieve a realistic old cement effect.
Once dry, I applied a coat of @MissMustardSeed antiquing wax making sure to work it into all the recesses.
Here's the final result!! Check out those yummy cracks and authentic chippiness! LOVE that!
Y'all, this is such a great way to update outdated decor. Think about what you could do with old garden pots, vases, old statues...skies the limit! Hope I've inspired ya some! Hop on over to my blog to for more info and some more detailed pictures! Thanks a bunch! xo

I personally liked her more smooth sleek side as opposed to her now grainier side that makes her have a reptilian look fir me. However, in the eyes of the beholder aka creator she us still super awesome! Growing miss on her would create the ultimate age old look no matter smooth or rough. Great job
