Great room (Living-Dining combo) furniture arrangement dilemma

Dears, We are in the process of furnishing our new home and need your opinion on the attached furniture arrangement. The furniture items haven't yet been purchased so we are flexible to replace, remove, add any missing thing. I am also attaching some items that we liked/considering to purchase once we are settled on the furniture arrangement plan. Note: Dimensions in Inches Thanks in advance

I really like your choices of furniture Khaled. The lay out looks as though it would work in your room too. The only think I might personally add would be bookcases in the nook with the two chairs as we're avid readers in our home.

Thank you so much Becky. Here are some old images for my place. Wall paint color will be changed

@You're very welcome Khaled. As for the paint, personally I'd choose Shaker Beige.

I like the layout, but feel like the chairs being at the end of the room might be awkward if two people end up there and feel like they are not really a part of the rest of the party, so to speak. I wonder if perhaps moving one loveseat to that end of the room, and replacing the lounge chairs with swivel chairs, putting them where that second love seat would have been, would make it so they would feel more included? If people were seated the center area in swivel chairs, they could swivel around to speak with the people against the wall, or else face the other loveseat near the fireplace. My layout would remove the console entirely. I have done a mock-up of what I mean. I hope it attaches.

I like this layout better. My biggest concern and I guess a question would be about the dining area being so close to the bathroom. Kinda awkward I think. =/

Thank you AvonelleRed for the amended layout. @Wendy Willey Yes it's kinda awkward but thanks God it's a powder room not the main bathroom and there is a very small entryway leading to the powder room. What about the empty area beside the loveseat that is placed against the wall? any recommendations?

I thought about Avonelle's layout, but like the idea of the cozy nook for reading or if the table between the chairs was a bit larger, a game of chess or backgammon.

How many people will be using the space at any given time? What will the space be used for.... tv viewing, child's play area, games? If it were my house (and the way I know we use space) I'd do an L shape with the loveseats I can't figure out how to draw it up but it looks like there's enough room).. it'll close up the space but I like that, directing traffic.... One across from the fireplace and the other against the wall where you have it. Then I'd only use one chair next to the fireplace. Along that back wall I'd use bookshelves or a piece of furniture with artwork above and a chair in the corner..... it'd be a reading nook for me! Looks like a great space!

Space will be a formal living room/Dining room because I have another enclosed space that gonna use as a family room.

Dears, I am still hoping for more ideas and want to add that this is a faux fireplace with electric firebox so if you have any proposal that includes moving the fireplace to another spot it is ok

You could put the fireplace in the nook area and make it a cozy sitting area rather than the main social grouping and then you'd be able to put 2 sofas or a sofa and loveseat and a couple chairs in the other space.... Or add a hutch/storage unit....bar?

Khaled, are you still looking for ideas? I just typed out a whole bunch and lost it so I don't want to do it again for nothing? I will gladly re type if you want me to. Lori

Happy New Year to you too Khaled. OK, first thing I would do is turn the dining table the other way, lengthwise. Next, I would bring the one sofa down to form an L shape with it's back to the dining table. If there is room, and it looks like there may not be, but if so, the sofa table could go behind that sofa. If not, I might not purchase the sofa table because it will serve no real purpose. I would turn the coffee table lengthwise in front of the sofa you pulled down, and get a beautiful area carpet either to sit under the coffee table area or big enough to cover the whole living room area, sofa to sofa kind of thing. Next, I would bring the chairs down to where the sofa "was" but only far enough to make them feel part of the room, because of the other things you've done your living room is now extended in lenght and is starting to encompass that nook. Do you understand what I mean? Now, what is left of that nook, I might try putting the console on the back wall with the window, put a beautiful lamp, maybe two if it is wide enough, like buffet lamps, tall and thin, and a painting above it. On the wall the console was on I would hang a tapestry or really big art piece, modern and different and on the opposite wall a mirror to reflect it. As for your little tables, you just put them where you need them of course. I hope there is something in all this that you find helpful and enjoy your lovely home for a long time.

I would go w/ AvonelleRed's amended floor plan. The only thing I would change is turn the dining room set 90 degrees & maybe pull it a foot closer to the living room. I absolutely LOVE your furniture pieces especially the chair. I think if you chose those chairs it won't be hard to turn them so you or guests can talk to others on both sides of the room. Hope this helps.

I am in agreement with putting the loveseats or couches in an L shape so that the chairs can be pulled into the conversation area if desired. I would put a focal point in front of the loveseats like a TV/Entertainment Center, or fireplace (if not already there), so that is where the eye is drawn. You may want to add an adjustable height coffee table if you have board or card game players in your social group or family.
