I bought them but, never having had caladiums, I thought they'd stand up straight when put into a larger pot. But they're still floppy. If I put them into the ground, will it make a difference? If not, is there anything I can do to make them stand up? I see pix all the time of upright caladiums. These are disappointing. :-(

They were likely shaded a bit when the leaves were produced....probably by neighboring plants in the greenhouse. These leaves won't stand up but new leaves will if you fertilize now.

OK, I'll add fertilizer. Thanks. I thought these were supposed to be shade plants, so wondering why being shaded in the greenhouse would hurt them? Should I cut these off, or cut them off when new leaves start to grow?

yes, they can grow in semi-shade...but they got too much in the greenhouse

Some Miracle Grow will help them improve...I wouldn't cut all the leaves until they have some new ones to help them thrive....remember they need good drainage too... I love my caladiums...

Louise, I am certainly not an expert but when I have experiences like yours the first thing I do is change the environment - meaning move them to another area. All the water & food will not save a plant that is in the wrong environment.
