DIY Paint Can Herb Garden

Simple Stylings
by Simple Stylings
I wanted to create an easy and inexpensive herb garden so I used old paint cans, spray paint, rope, dock cleats and a couple pallet boards to create this DIY herb garden.
I drilled holes in the sides, inserted a piece of rope and tied the ends on the inside.
I used painters tape and sprayed the cans in a diagonal pattern to match our deck decor.
I screwed the cleats to the pallet boards
Once the paint was dry and the ropes were attached we planted our herbs.
The cleats were attached to pallet boards mounted directly to the siding of our house. Then we planted our favorite herbs for cooking!
We even filled them with mums for the fall once the herbs were gone! What do you guys think?

Did you thoroughly clean out the can first? I can't imagine that the paint inside the can would be very good for any plant.

Thank you, I love this. How do you environmentally empty the paint cans? I have many old cans, with thick or hard paint in them.

I've kept a bunch of empty coffee cans and now have a purpose for them. Can't wait until spring. (I live in northern Maine, so it is a loooong way off!)
