Vintage Coffee Table Makeover

I absolutely love how this table turned out. It's a beautiful turquoise color finished in a home made chalk paint and completed with some clear furniture wax. Fantastic project to turn an old 80's coffee table into a fun and functional tv stand for a child's playroom.
I came across this really retro coffee table and two matching end tables for a mere $40 for all three pieces (end tables are gigantic!). The end table project will come later, but the coffee table I knew would be perfect as the TV stand in my daughter’s playroom. I loved the pretty and quite girly design on the front of the doors. The hardware, although heavily tarnished, was beautiful.
The piece before I started was dirty, dusty and had a very 80's retro feel to it. Nothing to write home about. Simply wiped it down with a damp cloth and scraped off any sticky spots.
I used a flat turquoise paint mixed with my homemade chalk paint recipe to turn it into a custom chalk paint color recipe. You can find my chalk paint recipe at http://www.diyhomeinterior.com/homemade-chalk-paint-recipe-plaster-of-paris/
The hardware was all painted with Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint and then re-attached to the doors. The last and final step was to apply a clear finishing wax over the entire piece and buff to a nice clean shine.
The final coffee table is now going to make a beautiful tv stand with storage for a child's playroom.
