Need suggestions for bedroom redecorating

Our bedroom is not a large one so we need input on how to give us space for lamp, nightstand or at least somewhere to put a clock. I had thoughts of a headboard with shelf space to eliminate end table. Are there any other suggestions?

Hi Susie, do you have pictures of your bedroom? That will certainly help!

For a light hang one from the ceiling then you won't need as large of a flat space.

My bedroom is small, with no overhead light, so I purchased two inexpensive hanging lamps & have them overhead of each side of our bed. I got the, with switches on the cord to turn on & on. I also chose white so I can change my decor easily & not need to change my lamps. Works great!

what about wall sconces, so you don't need table space?

I have a half round antique end table table next to the window. With an overskirt and a square doily set on an angle so the lace "drips down". Holds my clock, small lamp, Aspercreme, glasses and the phone charger.

I use 2 small vintage bookcases, 1 for each side. They make for a lot of storage. Also, go up, not out! A tall narrow highboy type dresser gives you more space than a wide one. Shelves above windows (if there's space) or doors work for displays or off season storage. I use over-the-door hooks for jackets, scarves, necklaces or most anything!

@ Over-the-door hooks are great. There are also under-the-bed storage containers that are good for off-season items or things you don't use often. Some even have glides to make moving in and out easy.

Bookcase beds were great at conserving space lots of room for books, clock, etc. Maybe you could make one or find one at a Thift.. There are also light fixtures that have a swivel mechanism that attach to your wall. They plug into a normal wall outlet. Can swivel the light to read or swivel back out of the way.

What about cutting into wall space between studs and using it for shelves.... No floor space needed.

how about using 2 tall book cases on each side of the bed. Add a board across the top & you will have lots of extra space. You could even mount a hanging light to the book case.

@Donna Like this idea - would make the wall a feature wall, and the bed and cases would look like one unit.

I have an antique piano stool on one side of mine and a small trunk on the other. I also have a tall narrow stool in my living room in the tiny space by the hubs chair which has 2 baskets for his "stuff" on the rungs below which would also work in a bedroom. Other thoughts would be a folding plant stand or regular plant stand, patio side table, planter pot with the lid on top, step stool, garden stool. (yes, I do like outdoor stuff inside) good luck
