Mirror with black marks
I have a lovely mirror that I want to put up but it has a few black marks on it. It doesn't appear to be something that cleans off (tried acetone). Rather worn into the mirror. I'm guessing since I've seen antique mirrors show black marks. Any way to fix?

The only thing I've ever known to repair this is to resilver the mirror.

Your correct Becky, Those black marks are the silver backing beginning to peel off. That is the only way to correct this issue. If you want to save this mirror from getting worse. I would suggest that you test spray first then spray the back using a clear sealer to help keep the silver coating from being worn off.
