It looks like some type of Gaillardia but I'm not sure which one. That black center is crazy looking. I want one.
Me too, Susan! I don't know what it is either, but I'm eager to find out as well.
I believe that is cosmos, http://www.burpee.com/flowers/cosmos/?cid=PPC,
it comes in a variety of colors and even sizes of the flower...the most "Commom" cosmos looks more like a daisy on "Baby Breath Foliage"
Definitely a gaillardia
I thought zinnias without doing any research...?
I call them lovely :-)
They look like painted daisys
Sure does look like a type of Gaillardia to me!
It does look like a gaillardia, but first guess was helenium.
I agree, it's some kind of Galliardia.
They look like zinnias.
beautiful. what regions do they grown in? i'm in kentucky
Gaillardia... aka Blanket flower (the colors of mexican blankets)
I posted a link to compare the leaves... :)
Very Pretty ~ Galardia is my guess!
Believe they are Blanket flower.
Galliardia...the leaves are not the same as zinnias....
I thought blanket flowers were bigger and had more yellow?
Blanket Flower is right
Looking at the leaf, best guess would be a single zinna
zinnias they come in different colors and sizes.
Not zinnia or giallardia. It is Sneezeweed (Helen's Flower) (Helenium)
Yep, they are blanket flowers.I have them in my flower beds, which are non existent this year due to lack of rain!
They are Helenium, they are much taller than Gallardia.
Cultivar of Gaillardia, Blanketflower.
Those who identified it as Helenium are correct.
Definately helenium. Not zinnias or gallardia.
Might be a dianthus.
No they are not correct it is Gaillardia 'Burgundy' common name blanket flower, Helenium do not have that yellow.
I think they are Zinnia's
Zinnias - pulled out my fave gardening book to be sure and the flower is the same as the picture in my book.
It's helenium. Look it up on a Google search. Looks a lot like blanket flowers, but it is helenium actually, or sneezeweed as it's sometimes called.
Looks like gaillardia to me.
definately zinnia. not too many of the gaillardia had remotely close a center to this. notice the appearance of individual flowers at center too.
Yes it is Helenium....I have this in my garden....it comes in several colors.
Helenium - scroll down and look at the pictures
you are definitly looking at gailardia
Indian Blanket. They grow wild along the Texas Highways in the spring. There are a varity of colros, thus called " Indian Blanket ".
never saw a zinnia that had a cone in it. Looks like a variety of cone flowers to me, though I'm not sure of the correct name. My g'ma just called them "cone flowers" I have zinnias and they look nothing like this
the leaves on the stem are not like zinnia leaves.
This is 'Helenium' - the red is an unusual color of it, typically yello and/or orange. Lovely pictures! Thank you for sharing :)
Amy - Where we these located?
By looking at the leaves, these are definitely not zinnias. However, some of my zinnia flowers do resemble these with the cone and others are a tight flower...they came out of the same seed packet.
Looks like Helenium to me. I have lots some and have saved some seed & hope to start new plants by seed & division. Also, I have lots of zinnias (planted from seed) - the new flowers do not have a "cone" in the center but as they age they develop a larger & larger cone.
Its Helenium, it also comes in a yellow/orange color. Its great late color!
The foliage looks like zinnia!
Definitely not Indian Blanket. So many things cannot survive this heat and dry conditions.
It's a gazinia
I think they're gaillairdo (sp), a blanket flower.
NO DOUBT-Helenium..........I have this one, the books calls it Helenium & the internet says same thing!!!!
They look just like my heleniums.
Helenium one of about 40 herbaceous flowering plants in the daisy family .They bear yellow or orange to red-orange flowers. Go to http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=helenium&qpvt=helenium&FORM=IGRE to see some pics of various blooms. May need to copy and paste site addy.
Helenium but I've not seen a red variety.
Looks like Zinnias.
Helenium it is...would love some seed!
Looks like it might be gaillardia.
Well looks like you've got your answer, Helenium, the photo shows the variety "copper"
Whatever they are, they are beautiful.
Thank you for all the great answer, now I know it's call Helenium!
@Jean this flower located in New York City.
Looks like Gallardia, or beach flower
Common name is Blanket flower
