DIY Light Up "Happy Halloween" Sign

Medium
You know those fake foam pumpkins that you see in every craft store this time of year? Instead of decorating one that found its way into my shopping cart, I decided to use it in a different way. . .
On a DIY painted Halloween sign, to be exact! And I gave it an extra fun touch by making it light up!
First, I painted a plain board black and then created letter stencils to help me paint the word "HALLOWEEN."
Next, I hand-painted a bunting banner at the top, which reads "happy."
After the paint dried, I sealed the entire thing with polyurethane suitable for exterior use. Then, I cut my craft pumpkin in half, carved him a face, and adhered it to the front of my board with a removable LED tealight inside.
It looks really cute on my porch and will be the perfect greeting for trick-or-treaters when it's all light up on Halloween night! When the weather's bad, I bring it inside and it looks equally adorable next to my fireplace!
