Simple Steps to Clean Hardwood Floors

I absolutely love hardwood floors, especially clean hardwood floors. It's amazing how much they add to a home. Hardwood floors compliment any home decor design and are the easiest to clean--especially when we're talking spills and dirt. Unfortunately, with the good comes the bad.
Hardwood floors show dust the easiest and if you have a cat a dog, you better leave your vacuum within reach at all time--unless you have a non-shedding animal, of course. Luckily, these quick cleaning and deeper cleaning tips are simple enough to get the job done in no time!
Quick Cleaning:

1. Vacuum or sweep. Be careful not to use a beater bar attachment on your vacuum as it can scratch your floors.

2. Follow with a light mop such as with the Swiffer Wet Jet and their hardwood floor solution--my personal go-to!
Deeper Cleaning:

1. Vacuum or sweep as normal.

2. Follow with a thorough mopping using a combination of Murphy's Oil Soap and water (see instructions on your Murphy's bottle).

3. Allow to dry 95% of the way. Use a microfiber cloth to dry and dust the floor, removing any leftover residue.

I clean homes for a living and run into many hardwood floors. I have my hubby vacuum the floor first using a commercial vacuum that does NOT have a beater bar. Then he goes over the floor using Bohner (am not sure of the spelling) with his wide mop and I come behind using a white terrycloth cleaning rag that is wrung out well and go to it on my knees wiping every inch, changing out the terrycloth rag at specific site areas. When I am done, it is so clean, you could eat off those floors! I will keep going over them until I see NOTHING on my cleaning cloths! Because of obvious reasons, I only clean residentials.
