Leveling concrete

I have a stamped concrete patio. The area where a block/Stone gas grill enclosesure was built (at same time as patio poured) has cracked and sunk about a couple of inches at an angle. Obviously due to poor compaction prior to the patio being poured. I need to raise that area while maintaining the patio and the grill surround. A company that raises concrete through injection was not optimistic that they could correct the problem. Any advice would be appreciated!

David, The system that they suggested was called Mud Jacking. This is a very common method of lifting cement slabs such as patios, sidewalks and other larger cement slabs. The difficult part is the stamped part. The other concern that they may have is the layer of stamping on top of the main pour. If indeed that was how yours was done. When a stamped patio is placed over a pre-poured slab the connection between each pour is the weak spot. Lifting the slab can cause that weak part to separate causing the finished stamped slab to crack and crumble. Leaving you with a big mess that cannot be fixed without tearing the patio back up again. And once the jacking occurs that can make the job even worse. You may be much better off cutting out the bad section and having it re-poured and stamped. I know of now real method of correcting this other then removal or the mud jacking which is suggested that it not be done. You could call another contractor who does this and perhaps they have more experience then the first guy and be able to help you out.
