How can I make my kitchen counter look nice and finished after installing a larger stove?

Have to upgrade a slim outdated 27" stove to a larger standard 30" stove. I can't afford new cabinets right now. I will have to remove a short counter to make room for the new stove. How can I finish this off on a tight budget?

    Pictures please.
  • If your cutting the counter down, or even the cabinet. Assuming you have a laminate top. There are glue on edges that you can purchase at most home centers that can be fastened to the edge to make it look better. Also they do make T shaped guards that fit between the stove and counter to prevent crumbs and spills from getting down between the stove and cabinet; This device will also hid the cut edge. But what you do will depend upon what exactly you have as a top.
