cold sores..what to do about them....

So sorry to have to share my grossness with all of you, but I have never had any cold sores and I dont know what to do.
Last week we spent the week on the Oregon Coast, it was very very cold and WINDY, so not much of our bodies was exposed except for my nose, lips and forehead. This was last wednesday, the 15th, today is a week Thursday, 23rd, and I still have big mega scabby blisters. I got a prescription from the dr today , but there must be something else I can do, to not feel so miserable, to speed healing, and not feel so punky, at least i HOPE that is why I dont feel well too. I just realized yesterday it is not sunburn, it is something else, a friend said...herpes S...aacckkk!

Abreva works but expensive.

That's just what I was trying to think of Abreva. My sister told me that worked great for her hubby when he had a cold sore. I hope it helps you too Bernice. Hope you feel better soon too. I hope you told your doctor all you told us about how you are feeling.

Thank you both so much ...I went to the site and got a 2 dollar coupon, i dont care if it is expensive, so was the med the dr prescribed today, 25$ plus, but I want relief and not keep looking like a monster! So , is there any relation to shingles? Some of the questions hinted at it, I had a shingles shot about 2 months ago. Again , thanks so much, early a.m to store I go!

Do you know if there is any relation to shingles? I had a shingles shot about 2 months ago. And I am afraid to touch my face anywhere else....am I being paranoid?

Bernice I hope you check this before you head to the store because I think you should ask the pharmacist if it's okay to use both the prescription and Abreva at the same time. You don't want to cause more problems. I can't help you about shingles. A friend from Florida recently had it, but I really know nothing about that. I'd be paranoid too. Did the doctor mention shingles? If not I wouldn't over worry. If you can't stop worrying, call your doctors office and ask to speak to a nurse.

Bernice ask your Dr. if it could be a reaction to the shot. I think they are in the same family, but I don't know anything about that immunization.

Thank you ..I will, I am curious too. Just because the site I went to mentioned shingles , but i dont remember why. Called Dr, no problem taking Abreva at same time. When I was about 10, I had some warts, my old uncle told me to cut a potato , rub it on the wart, then bury the potato. I did. Don't remember if it took care of the wart or not, but I am ready to even try that! ha!

Thanks for the support. They are FINALLY going away, big scabs came off yesterday..and I seem to be feeling more like I should. What a circus!

Well , here I am in all my glory! I know there are worse cold sores out there, but here is what I had to deal with for 2 weeks! Plus a sinus head..miserable rest of vacation on the ocean, and at home for 2 weeks! bummer! Just want you to know , I am ok now! Still have marks on my face tho. And I do NOT want to do this again!
