Napkins and Furniture - a Beautiful Combo!

Wildflowers & Pistols
by Wildflowers & Pistols
I wanted to paint a piece in one of our new Wildflowers & Pistols Milk Paint colors so I went to my storage unit to find the perfect piece. I decided I wanted to use our new paint color, Annaleigh. It's a darker purple color, similar to a plum color. When I found this piece I immediately knew that I wanted to spruce up the drawers and had the perfect idea!
As you can see, this had scratches and dings and wasn't in the best of condition. But, those dings and scratches were going to look great after I painted it! I removed the old wooden drawer pulls, filled the old screw holes with wood filler and then sanded over the filler until it was smooth. I painted the entire thing (besides the drawers) in our W&P Milk Paint - Annaleigh. You can purchase the milk paint here ----> http://wildflowersandpistols.com/collections/milk-paint/products/annaleigh
After I was done painting, I grabbed my paint brush, mod podge and the paper napkins I picked out.
Before you start gluing down your napkins you will want to separate the napkin. Just remove the top, decorative layer. Be careful not to rip it.
Next, you are going to brush on your mod podge then lay your napkin down over it. Carefully press down the napkin. I wasn't worried about wrinkles because once it dried I was going to distress it.
This is what the drawer looked like after I applied two napkins. Once it dried I tore off the excess and took my electric sander to distress the napkins. I sanded enough to let some of the wood be exposed. Once I was done distressing I drilled a new hole for the new drawer knobs.
You can see here that the napkin has been distressed and some of the wood is exposed.
I LOVE the new knobs! They work perfectly with the napkins and the paint color!
I sealed the W&P Milk Paint with 2 coats of shellac and I put 2 coats of mod podge over the napkins AFTER I distressed them.
I think the napkins look great with the Annaleigh W&P Milk Paint color! This little side table went from being old and worn to sweet and pretty!

    Hi

going to start this project but a bit confused, after spreading the modge pudge on top of the napkins, wouldn’t using a sander destroy the very fine napkins .

    thanks for any help,decoupage novice
