Cleaning-related activities are among the most important household chores, not only for the neat look of your home, but also for your health. That is why they need to be regularly and carefully done. Thankfully, nowadays there is a great variety of cleaning products and various appliances that might help us complete the cleaning tasks more quickly.

Studies indicate that we spend about 1/3 of our life lying, which means that we need to pay special attention to our beds. That is, we should be particularly careful in our choice of mattress and we should clean our mattress regularly in order to avoid various unpleasant health conditions. The purpose of this article is to discuss several ways that will help you maintain the excellent condition of your beds. I will pay more attention to the means of cleaning children's urine from mattresses, for we all know this might be a really challenging task.

There are several things that you should do, in order to be sure that your bed is safe and nice to sleep in. Well, in the first place you should launder your linens regularly. Next, you should vacuum the mattress frequently. In addition, it is a good idea to use an upholstery cleaner created by City Carpet Cleaning – they are generally harmless, unless you have extremely sensitive skin or are allergic to any of its ingredients. However, they tend to remove dust mites, which is extremely important.

Here are some useful tips in case you have been unfortunate enough to stain your mattress with blood or something else. The first thing that you might want to try is the good old baking soda solution, containing only one part soda and two parts cold water. It is easy to make and it is certainly something that you have in your home. Apply the mixture on the stain and wait for about half an hour. Then rinse the remaining solution off and let it dry. You can also use a detergent or hydrogen peroxide for the purpose. In order to cope with the mould spores, you can prepare a solution, containing equal parts of water and diluted alcohol.

If you are a parent, you have most probably faced the challenge to remove urine from your children's mattresses. The first thing that you need to take into account is your choice of cleaning products, considering the fact that you are going to use them in the young ones' bedroom. Remove the wet bed linen and wash, adding small quantity of vinegar to eliminate the odour. Blot the excess fluid from the mattress using a dry cloth. Then you can dab either an enzyme-based cleaner or a home-made solution of vinegar, water, and just a little bit of detergent. The good thing about both options is that they are ecologically friendly. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes and then sprinkle baking soda over the wet area. Wait for ten more minutes. Soda has the ability to absorb the moisture. Dab it with a wet cloth and vacuum to remove the residues. Finally, you will need a blow dryer to dry the mattress. It must be completely dry, so as to prevent mould from forming. In order to eliminate the unpleasant smell of urine, you might mix vinegar with cold water and spray all over the surface of the mattress or sprinkle some baby powder.

Finally, keep in mind that bed wetting is something that happens to every child, so be patient with your own. Cleaning the mattress and removing the odour might be really hard and frustrating but the effort is worth it. After all it is your duty to provide your young ones with nice, clean, and safe environment.

I clean me sheets and comforter weekly. My mattress is in great shape due to the fact that I have a great mattress protector on it. It was very expensive and I honestly don't want to buy another one at this time because of the price. The mattress isn't my problem, the protector is. I've washed and washed with vinegar and baking soda, bleach, and regular laundry detergent. (Gain is my favorite) there is one spot that won't come out. It also takes FOREVER for it to dry after being laundered. Any suggestions for the mattress protector?
