DIY Dutch Door: Turning a Hollow Core Door into a Dutch Door

See how I took a hollow-core door and made it into a dutch door. It works great as a "doggy gate" for my golden retriever, in a dark room in our house. I love how functional it makes this room now!

how does the top half stay closed?

@Patti Larson We did this for my TV room because there was always a draft and my feet froze. Now they stay toasty warm yet there is still air circulation and light. At the lower edge of the top door we installed a slide lock (I'm sure it has a proper name)... it is flush with the door (nothing sticks out). This serves to 'connect' the two sections when needed. Any hardware store can help you when you explain what you want to do.

We put in a small latch on the back of the door to hold the top and bottom together. :)
