Vintage Entry Table Makeover (General Finishes in "Linen")

This is the second of two tables my mom gave me to paint for her, and I love how it turned out!
My Mom wanted a fresh chic look for a vintage table she'd found, so we chose a creamy off-white color from General Finishes milk paint in the color "Linen". It's a color that is not bright white, but not a yellowed antique white. I'd say it's more like a "heavy cream" white.
This table started as a piece that showed no style; it came originally painted a dark brown and a bearing a few chips on the tabletop. This table needed a major face-lift!
My mom had pictured roughing the piece up to give it a worn antique appearance, so after finishing painting it, I set to work "destroying" the perfect paint job..
I used a sponge sander to lightly scuff away the paint on the edges, allowing for the wood to show through.
My Mom loves the final look. Once again, I'm in love with General Finishes!

Linda on Nov 07, 2014I love the new look and you did a good job. Did you have to sand it all down or any kind of prep before using the Milk Paint?

Living in a Fixer Upper on Nov 07, 2014@Linda Thanks! This table had been painted with oil-based paint before, so in order to use my water-based milk paint I did have to sand it all down. Normally though milk paint requires zero prep work. If you'd like, I wrote up a tutorial for using milk paint here: http://dravenmade.blogspot.com/2014/08/milk-paint-mixology-101.html :)
