Help in making my front door pretty again?

Question

I have a front door that I want to shine again. It's solid wood and very pretty, however it always looks dirty and ugly. I am unable to remove it from its hinges because of its size. Any suggestions to getting it pretty again with the holidays coming? I don't want to paint it.

Have you put a protectent on the door? If not then get a can of urethane and put that on the door it will look beautiful for many years . More than one coat, I used 3 coats on mine years ago. still looks almost new.

@Susan Hamill you should lightly sand it first, spraying would be messy, paint it on in the direction of the grain ask questions at the store you get it from..with the sun and salty air you might have unique problems and paint store can answer them xx

Suggestions: Lightly sand with 220 grit sandpaper, remove dust with a tack cloth, use a soft cloth (old t shirt or sock - wear gloves) apply light coat of Minwax Wipe on Poly in Gloss, let dry, repeat steps. (Always follow manufacturer's instructions for best results, product care and disposal.) I use this product on wood furniture and the finish always looks great. Easy! Easy! Easy!
