Fall Vegetable Garden Tour

Do you like to tour gardens as much as we do? Well, come along for a little tour of our fall garden to see what we're growing right now!
We made thewelcome sign this summer using an old wooden easel that we found. The vines growing underneath are sweet potato vines.
Our garden is large and composed of both raised beds and in-the-ground growing areas. Through the years, we've added structures such as the arbor and the obelisks.
Our state flower, the yellow jessamine, has totally covered the arbor and is giving us a second bloom. We purposefully include flowers in our garden to attact the pollinators.
The garden is enclosed by a tall fence which keeps out deer that live in the surrounding woods. The Knock-out roses planted along the fence are putting on quite a show this fall.
Early this spring, we planted marigolds beside the tomato plants and they have continued to grow and bloom all summer long. Now they are brightening the broccoli plants!
This is a rutabaga leaf among the kale, and we've already been enjoying both.
And we've been having lots of salads using this romaine lettuce, radishes, and peppers from the garden.
Do you notice what's missing in our garden? It's weeds, and we won the war with them by putting landscaping fabric down in the spring. It was a large investment initially but so worth it!
But what's a fall garden without a pumpkin? Yes, we grew a few of these Jarrahdale ones as well as a few white ones. Since we've already had a little frost on them, they've all been picked and brought inside. You can see more of the garden as well as find a few tips on growing vegetables by visiting our blog!

thanks for the great ideas....Ive also been adding a few lake rocks here and there in my yard....when I drive to NY I always "borrow "a few from Lake Ontario...nice border tht will never disintegrate....
    • @Rkvaneck We have some stones around one of our beds in our front yard that have been there forever (my husband grew up in this house!) He had no idea where they are from, but I like your idea of borrowing a few rocks from the lake!
