Our mudroom is one of the most used rooms in our house. It is combined with our laundry room so there is always a constant flow of laundry and children in and out of this room. The mudroom is between our garage and the front hall, and when we enter the house it’s through the mudroom. We had a lack of functional storage for each of the kids, so shoes, coats and bags just ended up all over the floor. I really wanted to take care of the storage situation, and the first thing to take care of was building the benches.
My front door.....well, yea...it was not pretty. In fact, if I'm completely honest with you, I was totally embarrassed by what a person would see when they drove by my house or walked up to my front door. Aside from installing a motion sensor light and putting up a welcome sign that displayed my favorite kind of shoes, I hadn't done a thing. But this fall I was determined to change that. In fact I found by making these few changes my whole mood changed when I walked up to my front door. Here are 5 affordable ways I used my fall inspiration to create a more inviting front entryway.
Good morning everyone,
This weekend I innocently went to the Street Fair that was in town for the weekend. Little did I know I would be starstruck with tillandsia, also known as air plants. Yes, I have seen them many times before but never gave them a thought. This little booth had them on display so beautifully and they were in bloom. I bought 4, went home and researched for hours, and realized this would become another passion for me. The next day I went back to the Street Fair and got more. Here they are sitting in glass out for their morning light while it is still cool in the mornings. I am still working on ideas for how to display them in the house. It may look like a bunch of salad, but look closer and see why I am so smitten! :)
Ever since being a teen, I've always disliked hanging up my clothes. So I did something about it.
Random reclaimed lumber, most from pallets were screwed into the wall along with some pretty crazy hooks. This idea has saved my bedroom! And hardwood floors. Full tutorial is avail.
I made a batch of these ornaments years ago for a craft fair. Recently, I was inspired to make another batch in the colors that I love for Christmas. That's one of the best parts about this project - customizing it with the colors you love. These ornaments are easy enough to let kids help you in the process, but also they're pretty enough to give as gifts. Most kid crafts aren't exactly gorgeous, ya know.
I hate stripping. It is messy, time consuming and to be effective, it usually involves harsh chemical products. If you also hate it, you will like this tutorial. I will show you how I re-stained the top of this buffet without stripping or sanding it down using gel stain.

Guys I have wanted to make a kitchen island of my very own for a long time. So when we were buying this house, it had the perfect space for the island I'd dreamt about forever. I bought a $25 dresser that I wanted to use because of the perfect amount of storage for baking sheets & all other baking utensils. It had ample drawer space! Then I turned it into a beautiful work space for my kitchen!

Flocked Christmas trees have always seemed a bit comical to me living in Southern California but this year, I just couldn’t resist. Last year’s mantel was classic and gold, this year I wanted to change it up without spending a thousand dollars on decorations. The flocked Christmas tree adds a bit of whimsy and plays off perfectly to the $3 white houses that I got in the Target Dollar Spot.
I’m not sure about you but I have always been intimidated about wallpaper. I consider myself an avid remodeler been doing this since the 80s. So I was not sure if it was hard to do it was just scary to lineup the textures and such. So when my daughter asked me to help her with her-so teeny little bathroom of course I agreed but I was still a little intimidated.
