Unfinished window frames

We recently had brand-new windows installed and the frame is deeper than before so they trimmed it out in pine. The installer said to paint it but my husband was wondering about covering it up with a flat piece of trim? My question is what is the best way to finish the pine around the windows?
This isn't the best photo that you can see the unfinished pine around the window.

Looks like they didn't finish the job. It should have trim around the window.

We are actually going to be redoing all the trim in the house so we just had them leave it off for now.

No offense, but your comment had nothing to do with my question. I understand the window is unfinished. We will be putting trim around the window. I just want to get some opinions on the best way to finish the pine that they put in the sill area.

@Amberly Meehan It's the way the window is made. The pine just needs to be painted.

    Here's a better picture.

Am a bit confused as to why your concern is just with the sill area (bottom part of the frame) as the pine framing is around the entire window. I'd just paint all the pine the same colour as the window so it looks like one unit.

My dad was a carpenter so that has helped me pick up some of the lingo!

Get some nice trim to clean up this window job. Also, Marion is right. You need to paint the pine. What kind of colors are you using in this room? That might help determine how dark or light you should paint the frame. http://www.fivestarwindows.com/simonton.php
