Scanning Old Negatives & Photographs

I needed to get my old photographs into some kind of order but I had some problems.
1. I seemed to have mislaid some of them but I still had the negatives
2. Some were a bit tatty or faded but I still had the negatives
3. Some were from when my husband and I were very young but no negatives
4. The ones I had were going to take up a lot of storage space plus I wanted to be able to give the kids the ones taken when they were young.
Solution
Scan the negatives or the photos without negatives and store them digitally
I needed a negative scanner and we got one cheaply.
I needed a scanner for the photographs and I could use my Computer printer for that
I needed the digital storage so we got an external hard drive to keep specifically for Photo storage as well as having them on one of the computers.
Then I need time to sit down and put the negatives through the scanner one by one.

This is the part that takes a lot of time so it has to be done in stages.
