Taking Risks and “Bucking” Tradition in the Entry

If you've been following our Entry makeover, you probably saw the story behind the Gallery Wall here: http://monamye.com/rowhome-gallery-wall/
Well, finally, I'm sharing the pièce de résistance. My favorite project so far, and one that hopefully adds to the welcoming feel of our entry space!
Get ready to get punny as I present to you:
Our en-deer-ing entry! I’m a firm believer that a home should reflect its residents, but since this little feature is the first thing you see upon entering our home, I wasn’t sure at first. However, when these classic elements (a recent HomeGoods find, an Ikea frame we used in our wedding photobooth, and some rugby striped wrapping paper) came together, all my doubts disappeared.

The perfect mix of fanciful and fun. It may not suit the rest of our house (yet) but to me it was definitely a risk worth taking!
Our deer looks lovingly over the Gallery Wall, and greets guests as they enter. I can't wait to decorate him according to the seasons. Peek back at Mon Amye for pics of Oh Deer celebrating each holiday!
Have you ever made a risky home decor decision – and did it pay off?
