A Daily Ornament Advent Calendar From an Old Door

We ordered the wrong doors (a few times... argh) for our house build last year, and I finally found a unique way to use one of them. With some fun with paint, a bunch of handmade ornaments, and a few accessories I made this unique advent calendar.
I started with a brand new 32" wide slab door. I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen, then I waxed it with clear wax.
While the wax was still wet, I brushed a homemade white wash over the door and rubbed it off with a dry cloth.
I added some dark wax and a bit more white washing, and I had a vintage looking finish that I love.
After the door finish was done, I installed some eye screws into the solid sides of the door, and strung some twine between them. On the twine, I hung some numbered tags and homemade and vintage Christmas ornaments with clothespins - one for each day in December.
I finished off the calendar with some faux metal antlers and a DIY map bunting on the top panel. My girls can pick one ornament to decorate the tree with each day in December, and the door calendar makes a really pretty feature in our living room.
