Paint the World in Chalk

Little Mushrooms
by Little Mushrooms
Found an old globe that still had the Soviet Union on it. Here's what I did to make it a real crowd pleaser.
I see old globes all the time at Goodwill. Pick one up next time you are there!
Here’s how you can recreate this same project:

Step 1: I took an xacto knife and gently scored the continents. Don’t worry about being prefect here. Once this was done I began painting the globe with a chalk paint. I used the Annie Sloan, Graphite since that is what I had on hand

Step 2: Now that the paint is dry you can see the scored edges which will allow you to outline with the Chalk Board Bistro Marker.

Step 3: I took powdered chalk (I simply shaved it off with the xacto to make a powder) and rubbed it inside the continents using a Q-tip. You could easily use the chalk and apply it directly but I found it wasn’t giving the soft appearance.

Step 4: Using a gold marker I freehanded the lettering to label each Ocean. (Atlantic, Pacific, Artic, Indian, Antarctic)
I loved the finished product.

Did you seal it with anything ? How do you keep chalk from rubbing off when you clean it ( dusting, etc.). ?

Hi! I love your globe! Did you seal it with anything? Does the chalk rub off?

@Little Mushrooms, what a great idea! I thought I'd seen the best of what chalk paint could do. This is really different and any color could be used. Love it! Nice job.

@Jan B Thank you so much! I had such a wonderful time creating this. I have since sold it but I have been itching to make another one for myself.
