Handmade Thanksgiving Tablescape

With all of the fun and excitement of Christmas, it kind of feels like Thanksgiving has been been left in the dust. I truly enjoy the festivities of Thanksgiving and cherish the time spent cooking a delicious meal for the people I love and gathering around the table to enjoy each other's company. It's the perfect opportunity for me to look around and count my many blessings. I wanted to create a handmade Thanksgiving tablescape that is sure to please. And of course I can't decorate anything without throwing some handmade touches in the mix. Most of the decor is an easy craft or DIY.

I made the table runner from a dropcloth and painted on the grain sack stripes.

For the place setting, I layered my white dinnerware on top of gold charger plates. I rolled up our mismatched utensils (keepin' it real, y'all) inside of inexpensive white cloth napkins and topped it all off with glittered leaves in alternating shades of gold, copper and chocolate brown. I used mason jar pints for drinking glasses. To jazz them up a bit, I traced a gold sharpie marker over the bottom rim.

The centerpiece is made from a DIY vintage carpenter's toolbox. I filled it with pinecones, faux white hydrangeas and mason jar quarts filled with floating tealights. In the very middle of the centerpiece is a glass vase filled with branches. I used fishing line to tie glittered leaves to the tips of the branches. You can see it a little better in some of the other pictures.

The rest of the decor was made from items I gathered from around the house, such as my grandparent's old copper kettle, a few real mini pumpkins and some ceramic pumpkins from the dollar store.

I had so much fun putting this Thanksgiving tablescape together and I'm so pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to have the family over for good food and great company. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

This is so pretty.. I stopped using my good china long ago.. My sister broke a cup and unknown to me she went to a china replacement co. to replace it. It was discontinued!! so I began using paper plates and looked for a large straw like paper plate holders and could not find them, so in desperation I took gold chargers and spray painted them brown. I was delighted when the paint speckled on them. Now, I have brown chargers with gold specks, which make wonderful paper plate holders for the Thanksgiving dinner. You have really good selection of paper plates.. Kids love the Turkeys...
