Pour about a cup of baking soda in the drain, slowly pour vinegar over that until it starts bubbling, let sit for about an hour, THEN pour boiling water down the drain. Has never failed to clear my clogs...

Thank you. I will try this again as I did the reverse and it didn't work. I did the hot water first then the 1/2 C baking soda, vinegar and after 30 mins, I tested the sink and it didn't work

Most drains have a p-trap thst loosens up under the sink, put a bucket underneath then with channel loc pliers loosen the 2 nuts on each side of p-trap pull it off and clean out the juck that has settled in it. Then put back together.

Sometimes it's just an air bubble in the water line. Try plunging it. I keep a small hand plunger under my sink at all times. Works well for me.

I would try the plunger first, a toilet plunger will usually work. The trap is likely clogged up. The most effective way is to go under the sink and remove the U-shaped section of pipe. There generally is a twist-off connector that you may be able to loosen with your hands. As stated above, put a small bucket or pot under the connection as you loosen it, since a lot of awful-smelling stuff will pour out. Clean that U-shaped piece and the put it back the way it was. Run water in the sink and check for leaks.

For simple clogs I use the vinegar and baking soda routine following with the boiling water but in this case I had to take it up a notch. I had a similar problem and ended up taking apart the p-trap under the sink and replacing it. you can get a replacement p trap at Lowes or Home depot for less than $5. Mine was so full of gunk from the previous tenant in the home that nothing was going to open it, I had even tried Drano as a last resort and it barely made a dent. It takes about 10 minutes and is really easy to do so you can save yourself the plumber's fees and spend that money on something for your self.

Then after you get the problem fixed this time, in the future NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put anything questionable down the drain. Especially grease!. Save a can of some sort, put grease in it, let set up (even put in the frig or freezer) and toss in with garbage.

I just use the baking soda and vinegar . If you don't have that and it's possibly grease then use salt and pop. You can also add salt to mix of the first one it will grab stuff on the way down. Either of these have both worked for me .

I had the same issue... But be patient... Baking soda, then vinegar. Let this sit for 15 minutes or more. Then pour boiling water down drain and leave it there for an hour before adding any other water. I flushed with more boiling water... And VOILA!

Don't have any water running when you try the Baking Soda and Vinegar. Just pour it in and let it sit. I always poured the hot water from a pail so I could get a lot of it down there quickly. Good Luck. Don't give up it really works.

After you get your drain unclogged, get some Cloroben PT-4...it works wonders to keep your drain working great.

Good tips. Go from easiest to hardest. Plunge first. Then soda and vinegar business. Maybe plunge again. Don't know is a "snake" would be the next viable option. Am not that handy so if nothing worked to this point, I'd call a plumber.
