Holiday Star Luminary Craft
These candle lanterns are made from dollar store jar lanterns plus star labels. They are easy to make, both in time and money! Great for hostess or teacher gifts! Here's how I made them...
The star-shaped labels - in the perfect kraft color - are from OnlineLabels.com. What's cool about these labels is the color is on BOTH sides - so all you see is the pretty kraft color!
I just wiped the distress ink pad lightly in a circular motion around the label sheet. There's no right way to do this, just add as little or as much ink as you want. Periodically stop to see how the stars look!
Wait a few minutes, then test with a clean paper towel to make sure the stars are dry.
Stick the stars onto your glass candle jars in whatever pattern suits you.
I coated the entire glass - the stickers too - with two coats of Sparkle Mod Podge, which dries clear but leaves a beautiful coating and some sparkles behind. Use a plastic lid as an easy way to turn the jars while you coat them with the glue.
I tore up small bits of cotton batting to use as fake snow in the bottom of each jar, surrounding each battery-operated votive candle.
I really love how they turned out! An easy way to create a holiday display or centerpiece!
And a safe way too, as these don't use real candles. These would make a great hostess gift or a teachers gift!
