DIY Candy Cane Mason Jars

Cute and simple DIY Candy Cane Mason Jars! All you need is a jar, red and white paint, masking tape and some decorations to make these festive holiday candle holders! Complete instructions on the blog Country Design Home.
This is the finished Candy Cane Mason Jar, all decorated with some jute rope and jingle bells.
Clean and dry the mason jars. Paint with an undercoat. I used home made red chalk paint, but you can use whatever you have on hand.
Measure around the neck of the jar, where you will start the taping process. Depending on the width of your tape, mark the jar in equidistant increments all the way around.
This tape is one inch wide, so I marked the jar in inches.
Tape the jar, beginning at the top markings, swirling as you go. You can do as little or as much swirl as you would like : ) Make sure you press down on the edges so the paint doesn't bleed underneath.
Paint between the taped stripes with white paint. I used Chroma Color by Cari Cucksey, but again, you can use whatever you have on hand.
Once the paint is dry, peel off the tape and you are left with a striped jar. But you're not finished yet! You need to sand down all of the rough edges, and sand the raised lettering on the jar. The more you sand, the more rustic the jar appears and the more light shines through from your candle.
Sanding down the edges to create a perfect rustic look.
Add some holiday embellishments. In this case, some jute rope and a couple of jingle bells from the dollar store complete the look. For the complete DIY instructions, please visit my website:
