Faux Gingerbread Ornaments: My Take on My Most Pinned Image Ever

Today I am showing you my take on my most pinned image from Pinterest. It is so much fun and so easy that kids can do it too. They are faux gingerbread ornaments. Never heard of them? Well keep reading, my friend!
Below is the original image. I loved the simplicity of the design, the contrast between the white piping and the dark cookies and how about hanging them from a branch?!

The blog from which this image came is not in English and I am assuming that they are a spice or gingerbread cookie decorated with royal icing.

Therefore they should be pretty easy to replicate. Well...not necessarily! Come on over to my blog to read about my disasters with gingerbread cookies and royal icing!
I ended up making faux gingerbread cutouts using a cinnamon ornament and white puffy paint!
I LOVE how they turned out! And I'm thinking of leaving them up all the way through Valentine's!

Hi Laura; I love this idea..... I was wondering how long do they maintain the cinnamon scent? Also how long can you keep them/how long do they last? Do they last longer if baked vs air dried? Thank you!!!

Tammara- first of all they don't have a strong scent of cinnamon for very long- maybe a week-10 days. My mother had ornaments we made like this for almost 20 years. She just wrapped them in tissue paper. I don't think the way you dry them would matter at all. Hope this helps!!
