Providing for Wildlife During the Winter

What kind of things can you do in your own little piece of earthly real estate that make a difference to wildlife in the winter? A few friendly practices will encourage wildlife to flourish in your garden. (Wildlife as in birds, bees, butterflies, squirrels, etc.)
Provide food. Birds and other wildlife need high energy food to stay warm and to survive this often harsh time of year.
Provide water. Water can be difficult to find in the winter especially in areas where shallow water sources freeze over. Water is needed for drinking and bathing.
Birds must bath to clean and fluff their feathers to maintain warmth.
Provide cover. Where do wildlife go when it is so cold outside? You can help by providing cover.
