Stacking Christmas Boxes Lighted Dioramas

Easy
I love crafting with dollar store items. I found the cutest holiday boxes and thought how adorable they would be stacked on top of one another. And then, remembering childhood playtimes, I decided to make the boxes into lighted dioramas using decorative items.
Making dioramas is a wonderful way of creating holiday or themed scenes in a small space.
I started with three graduated boxes and LED 10-light sets from the $ store.

Initially, I painted the insides, white and then cut out the front, leaving the tops on.
Then I painted the interiors blue and sprinkled white glitter on the wet paint for a sparkling snowy effect.

Next, punched 10 random holes in the back using first, an xacto knife and then a small pair of scissors to enlarge the holes.
Pushed lights into the back of the boxes and glued the battery packs to the back.

Added loose fake snowflakes on bottom and placed items around for a holiday-wintry scene.
What a fun way to display a holiday message!
This will surely add a holiday glow to any décor!

Is there anything on the front where you cut out to keep things in?

Are the items in the boxes glued down before the fake snow is added?

That just couldn't get any cuter. The snow men look like they want to jump out and play! The lids keep the dust off, and contained like that, easy put up and take down. I think you may have given me an idea for my Christmas village, as it has become a real job putting together and taking apart each year. Also, a good craft for the grandkids to make themselves, keep them busy. Love it!

Thanks, Patty! That sounds like an adorable idea for a Christmas village and for the grandkids, too! Easy to contain and bring out each year!

I love this idea. I feel this would keep some of the small village pieces upright and standing straight. As grandkids look and play near by many small things fall over
