Woodland Animal Applesauce Ornaments

Easy
We've all seen the gingerbread and heart applesauce/cinnamon ornaments. And they're pretty cute. But why not try something different this year? Your kids would have fun making these cute little woodland animals.
I bought these forest theme cookie cutters last year at Ikea, which they still sell. Aren't they cute?!
Depending on how many ornaments you want to make, feel free to adjust the recipe:

1 cup applesauce

1 cup cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp allspice

1 tsp ground cloves

You pretty much want equal applesauce and cinnamon....I added the other spices because they smell so good while the ornaments are baking for 2 hours at 175 degrees.
We found it easier to make the ornaments individually right on the LINED cookie sheet. Just flatten out a little "dough"; press cookie cutter; trim excess; make a hole to hang ornament; continue until your cookie sheet is full. Bake for 2 hours at 170 degrees. The tinfoil or parchment paper should keep your ornaments from breaking as you lift them off the cookie sheet, when done.
To decorate we just used white "squirt" paint and sprinkled with glitter while the paint is still wet. When the ornaments are dry, tie with whatever ribbon you'd like. We chose baker's twine.
Give them little eyes, noses, whatever you'd like--no rules when crafting with the Kiddos!
Sorry...I have to know...."What, DOES, the fox say?" !! ;)
