Repurposing Half Gallon Containers Into Boats

Look at what my kids and I made the other night!! So easy and free to do as we always have these half gallon containers in the house with a hungry family of 5. ;)
We made these last night before bath time and they worked fantastic!! I LOVE repurposing and finding new ways to use things that we would normally throw away, this is my finest I think. The reason being is we go through a fair amount of these and they take baths each night so it is a "free toy" we can make regularly to enhance our nightly routine! Here is how we went about repurposing half gallon containers at our house.
Any half gallon container will do. They are all essentially made the same, whether it is milk or juice and the material makes it buoyant in the water quite nicely.

I just used a razor to cut a rectangle out of the side of the container, and cut a piece of that off to make this handy flag. Just use the razor or pen to push a small hole into the container and the flag in order to push a straw through. This does two things. It is cute and it gives the side without the cap a bit of weight so it is steadier. Next we are off to try a smaller container and add to our creation for tonight's bath time. Enjoy!!
Who doesn't have these 3 things in their kitchen?? Easy craft for you and your kids.....visit my site for more repurposing and crafting fun for less!!
