Log Slice Reindeer

I asked a friend to cut me some log slices and got a few misshapen pieces. I imagined they looked like reindeer so I added some twigs and that's what they turned in to!
These misshapen log slices immediately looked like reindeer to me, as the rings had naturally made a nose shape in the log. So I got to thinking about how I could make antlers.
I broke apart some twigs my kids collected from the yard. I started by drilling 2 holes in the top of each slice and then I inserted the base twig, using Gorilla Glue to adhere it to the log slice. Once the glue was set on those, I added smaller twigs with the glue and allowed to dry. Then I painted over any white glue that was showing with brown paint to disguise it.
I added some black oval eyes and a big red nose with paint and my reindeer were born.
I am simply adoring how cute they are! These two are going with my children to school as gifts for their teachers.
