DIY Front Door Christmas Decoration - Alternative to a Wreath

I'm hosting Christmas this year and needed a quick inexpensive way to dress up my front door. Can you believe I found my inspiration in the kitchen section at IKEA?
This was really quick to make and adds just the right amount of holiday cheer to my front door. Hanging it with a 3M command strip hook means no holes in the door which my landlord will be very happy about!
I used these very inexpensive materials - the most expensive component was the cork trivets I found at IKEA for $3!
For the middle and top trivet, I drilled 2 holes 1/2" from the edge on the center line and for the bottom trivet, I drilled just one hole.
I glued the bias tape to the edge of the trivet - I unfolded the ribbon completely so it wraps around the edge and used Fabri-Tac adhesive that dries clear. It works well with fabric and cork.
I cut strips from the chopping mat and used the strips and the brads to connect the trivets together.
For more details and a quick tip to get the middle line perfectly centered, watch this short video.

Thank you for sharing your idea! It's cute and simple enough for a busy non-crafty person like myself to attempt successfully. I have a door with tiny panes of glass on the top half, but this would be so cute running horizontally just beneath them. At last a workable solution to my problem!
