Coffee Table With Crate Storage Drawers and Stools

We have an open floor plan, the family room, kitchen and dining areas are all one large room and it's the first thing that you see when you walk into the house. Our family spends most of our time in the family room. With young kids, keeping the house presentable is a challenge. I'm always looking for great ways to the kid's stuff. I needed a coffee table, and thought why not make it dual purpose with
For a unique look I used crates instead of drawers. 4 crates easily slide out, 2 on each side. (I have a little secret trick for making the crates slide easily without runners.) The kids can tote their stuff to any part of the room.
I dressed up the crates a little by painting them, installing cup pulls and adding a little upholstery nail bling. Help me solve my internal debate, do I leave the paint crisp white or distress it?
I added swivel casters and a hinged padded top to a few crates for stools. The kids love these.
