It's beautiful, but I'd love to touch and see one before making the big purchase. Is this sink anywhere in my area? Also would love to hear pros and cons from anyone who has actually lived with this sink. Thanks so much for your help!

While this sink is very attractive, I wouldn't want to be leaning up against the metal surface on the front. Just my personal preference.

I agree, very attractive till it needs cleaned or get scratched. But if you never cook or don't have kids.

I agree with Leigh,..also I would imagine, in time, it would "dent" in the front. For my taste too shinny..looks like gift wrapping. Sorry..but then again.... your taste is all that matters.

My husband and I renovated our kitchen a few years ago and put in a hammered copper sink and I love it. We have 2 young children and we have no issues at all.

@Shawnatroia Can you elaborate with pros and cons having lived with this sink? Is your sink nickel plated copper? How about cleaning it? Where did you purchase it? Sorry for all the questions, but this is a big purchase in my limited budget. I can only find the posted source to buy this specific sink, so I'm lacking the advantage of comparative shopping. Thanks for your help...and everyone else who responded.

That sink looks great, almost like one we almost bought, until we found a black sink by Kohler...that was the better buy for us :) The fun part of remodel is the time we take to make our decision...good luck :)

I think it's very pretty! I have no information about personal use but I always hear things like "How hard is this going to be to keep clean?" "How will it wear?" etc. I think the thing to remember is, everything is going to wear some over time. Everything is going to need to be cleaned over time. Then after you gather the information about your specific item (in this case the pretty sink) ask yourself "Can I keep up with the necessary care? And if it's not as 'easy care' as some other options, is the beauty worth it?" I saw beautiful statues made of stone in gardens in Europe last Christmas. They certainly were beautiful in my eyes and yet I knew they looked different when they were first created. I think most people would say "Sure, they've aged and have some wear and tear, but they're still beautiful." -) I think anything that gives your home that unique look that says "I live here with my family" is worth it! :-) If this is your dream sink, go for it! :-D

@sbridgemom our sink is 100% copper and we got it in lowes and I believe we paid the most 300 but I honestly think it was less. Cleaning it is easy and they make cleaners for it and it really doesn't scratch ours is still in great condition.

That is one of the prettiest sinks I've ever seen. It's a piece of jewelry but I would be afraid to have one.

The one at Lowe's is by Thompson Traders it is an 18 gauge hammered nickel. In the 5 yrs that I have been in the plumbing dept. I haven't ordered one yet. I do have a lot of people asking about the farmhouse sinks. A few had mentioned don't lean against, I see no difference if you lean against the nickel one vs the cast iron one to the stainless steel farmhouse sink. They all will scratch in due time. Main thing is to make sure you properly take care of it. Like the copper one you use carnuba car wax to keep the shine also the copper sink will patina over time cause it's a living sink but also is the best antimicrobial sink out there. I love the farmhouse sink and will be putting one in my kitchen when I'm ready to remodel my kitchen. I can't say which one I will be using cause I love them all.
  • I too love copper and was pricing kitchen sinks and you wouldn't believe the prices really HIGH!

I have this sink in my kitchen. It's beautiful, but since it's plated nickel over copper you have to be careful to not scrub it or use corrosive detergents on it. Only Carnauba wax should be used on it. I unfortunately have cleaners that scrubbed it with comet and the finish is now coming off. So you can see the copper coming through. I would recommend getting the copper sink instead.

If I had one, I would use the daylights out of it! Copper coming through in worn /scrubbed areas of the nickel would be wonderful for my liking. I would use it like any other sink I have owned..scrubbed,worn and used..but not abused!

Beautiful farmhouse sink! When considering a copper sink, there are three main areas you’ll want to look at.

Purity - Be sure it's as close to 100% as possible. (I don't see a problem if it's nickel plated but understand the nickel could wear off.)

Sink gauge or thickness - you’ll want to look for a 14 to 18 gauge sink. (lower the thicker)

How it’s made - Most are hand hammered, which may result in some unique differences or ‘imperfections’ between each sink. But do your research on the brand. Two manufacturers can vary wildly in quality.

That being said you'll have a unique looking sink. Ready to make a bold statement in any kitchen.
