prune roses

I need to know if I should prune my roses back for exst spring now .. It is getting cool here now and winter coming ..

    I would only prune what is necessary for safety at this point in the season Cheryl and wait until next spring when threat of freeze has passed. If you prune hard, in a warm spell your rose may push out new tender growth, then when the cold hits it may damage the plant along with that new tender growth.
