My new thermostat would not blow heat and would not reach temp, I turned it down to 62 deg. then several hours later it reset to 70 deg. and started blowing heat. Thanks for any advise.

Does it have automatic settings for time, weekday, weekend etc. as well as temp up & down? Mine does & as an example, if it's set to come on at 72 degrees at 7 AM on weekdays & I have lowered the temp to 60, then at 7 AM it will come on automatically & raise the temp to 72. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I have not programed it. It seems to be working OK right now. I talked to the thermostat people and the thought I should get my furnace checked. which I will when I here from them. Thanks again

Like Judy said, if it is a programmable thermostat it probably came with default program settings. See if you can find directions on how to change the defaults. With a programmable thermostat, if you change the temperature, it will stay there until the next programmed temperature change, then it will return to the programmed temperatures. There is usually a "manual mode" that you can use that makes it like an old thermostat - but that defeats the purpose of the programmable aspects.

Did the fuel truck come in the meantime? Lol. It probably is a programmable thermostats. Glad it is working.

change to new batteries that you know are good--maybe a new package. Worked for me.

I think you have to hit "hold" then hit "apply". Just figured that out on mine.

Same thing happened to me. It was not the thermostat. The circuit board in the furnace went bad. Cost me $$371 to fix.

Thanks everyone. I had the furnace guy come today and all is good with the furnace. It is still working good now. If it happens again I will look into changing the default. I would rather not program it.

We had problems with our thermostat that was driving us crazy. I did a search on "Google". I put in the brand name and model number. (found by taking off the thermostat cover and all the information was there) Found a tutorial that walked me through what I should do. Works fine now. I wish you luck!
  • The trick to set back thermostats if your not interested in having the benefits of the set back feature is to set every setting for the exact same temp. Several newer thermostats are much more user friendly as they automatically take you thought the set up process. Nest is one of these brands.

IDK what yours is like but mine is pretty simple. Buttons to set program for week-end & weekday, time forward or back, temp up or down, run program, then a switch on the bottom for cool/off/on. Not much more difficult than setting an alarm clock.
