Heirloom Quality Play Kitchen

After being inspired by all the play kitchens I've seen made from nightstands and entertainment centers, I started looking around my house to see what I could use to make a kitchen for my little one. I stumbled upon two kitchen cabinets in the basement and my ideas started to form. It took more planning and work than I had anticipated, but the end result brought a huge smile to my little girl's face Christmas morning. I'm hoping that it is something she will want to keep for her own children.

  • Thanks, ladies! One of the best parts is that it matches the cabinets in our real kitchen! I'm having a hard time thinking of something that will top it for this year:)

Ahna, this is so cute and love that it matches your cabinets. My dad was a carpenter and for Christmas, when I was three, I walked into the living room on Christmas morning to see a wooden kitchen set he had made that matched my mom's kitchen. I played and played with it but not right at first because as I went to open the doors, my parents yelled, "don't touch it, it's still wet!" Poor dad had been up all night painting it. Fast forward to my daughter, on her third Christmas, she received the kitchen. Some had to be reproduced but I found a neat carpenter who used my dad's pattern. She is 23 now and saving it for her daughter. Well, we hope she has a daughter but a son could use it too! You will find this will bring you generations of enjoyment. You did a great job on this!
