Storage Ottoman Makeover

This ottoman has seen better days. We've had it for quite a few years. It's fake (and in a bad way) leather, it's dark and dreary and it's been picked to death by our cats. BUT, it holds a boat load of stuff inside - so we definitely didn't want to get rid of it. What to do? :)
I picked up some white cotton canvas at the fabric store (on sale for $4 a metre!) and sewed it into a 'loop' that I pulled and pinned over the bottom of the ottoman.
Then, I used my upholstery gun to secure it, making sure to leave some slits in the spots where the hinges and screws would have to go.
I covered the top in a vinyl weave plaid, found in the 'outdoor and automotive' section of the fabric store. It should wear well with all the spills and messy feet and kitty cats! I also swapped out the legs from those cheap plastic ones that came with it to some sturdier, solid wood legs from Home Depot.
That's it! A basically new storage ottoman now! For more on this and other projects, please visit our blog www.diypassion.com - Thanks for reading our post!
