It is possible, to build a bathroom vanity and generally for less than a store bought one! Finally, have a custom piece that works for you! What a way to
Putting together a custom bathroom vanity really isn't all that difficult. It helps if you have a good Head of Quality Control!
I designed my own. I used AutoCAD to draw it but you can hand sketch it, even on a napkin.
Because I'm a terrible carpenter and some great guys I was working with offered to build the cabinet and form for the concrete countertop for me, I went that direction. Never fear -- if you can't build your own, I'm sure you know someone who can help you.
I did pour the concrete countertop myself though. Come read all about that experience and the whole vanity process over on my blog Flipping the Flip at humboldartdept.blogspot.com.
My husband and I installed the counter and I cut out for the sink. Great tip? Drill holes in the four corners so making the turns is super easy!
Install your sink -- be sure to put a little caulk under it to secure it to the counter.
Then install your faucet and drain. Super super easy! The drain is a pop up with overflow and you can find them darn near anywhere. So simple to install.
Caulk around your sink.....I used painters tape both on the sink and the counter to keep the mess and size to a minimum. I guarantee this will result in the best caulking job of your life!
Install your drain fittings and you're all set to go! Enjoy your brand new, custom bathroom vanity! Come read the whole story over on my blog, filled with lots of great, useful tips -- click the link below!
