Vintage Fork Name Tags

Give some old vintage forks a pretty colour-dipped make-over and use them as place card holders next time you entertain! I have inherited my great grandmother’s cutlery set and cherish it dearly. It is not a very expensive one and have seen better days but the shapes of the forks are wonderful and I love the rustic feel of the aged metal. Forks make the perfect name tag or place card holders on a table setting and look great if they are colour dipped for a fun element. Try this technique in a few easy steps with old or new forks to add a little fun on your Christmas table.

STEP 1

Give your old or new set of forks a good scrub down.

STEP 2

Dip the back and front of the fork in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®.

STEP 3

Balance the forks on a glass jar for it to dry. You can also use an old egg carton.

STEP 4

Cut brown card into strips and stamp your guests names on it. (If you don’t have a stamp kit you can simply write the names but I would highly recommend you invest in one. This one changed my life!

STEP 5

Now slide the name card in between the teeth of the color dipped fork and use it as a placeholder on your beautifully decorated table.

We have based this blog post around this wonderful palette featuring six selected colours from the Annie Sloan colour chart. See the colors here.

i love this but wondered if u took regular silverware that u use daily and dip in ceramic paint to match your kitchen! Only go as far as the length of the handle! Great way to dress up your silverware and have it dress up your house! ?? Yea or nay ?

Is it possible to paint the entire folk red, bend it and engrave a name on it? I am looking for unusual name tags for my staff

I like it! I would bend them so they could stand up or better yet corl so they can hold the napkin, and maybe curl the two outer tins....now the wheels are turning, thanks.
