I have some hardback medical books that I would like to try to do something create with. I hate to throw them away since I paid hundreds for them so I wondered if anyone has any ideas.

Donate them to med. student library or sell on eBay.

Those books are valuable - please give or sell them to someone who can use them, instead of cutting them up.

I too have textbooks that are outdated. Most places don't want them donated (I've looked into it), one company will resell/redistribute them in other countries if I pay for the shipping, the library doesn't want them, the Salvation Army will take any books except textbooks (I asked). Some recycling places will take them (as in recycling them, not read them). I have put three daughters through college (and one is in grad school) and I went back to school for my degree in nursing, etc. I assure you, unless you resell the books for pennies on the dollar within a very short time, the schools go on to a newer edition, making the ones you have obsolete. So, I too would like to hear suggestions that would work for this type of books.

I think it would be fun to use some glue/water to stick the pages together and cut out a square from the middle of the pages and make a stash place then maybe some decoupage/paint the covers. or glue them open and add some mixed media for art

You Can use the pages for all kinds of crafts. They make very nice flowers and wreaths, Check Pinterest. I've also seen a lamp made from them using the entire book. A hole through the middle, lamp kit with small stick like center and perhaps modpodge a lamp shade with some pages, perhaps illustrations.

You can pile them in a creative way, maybe two or three columns, and put a glass on top to make a side table! Don't throw them away!

Stack them up as high as you like, drill holes through them, then a pipe through the hole and use some "medical looking" light, make a light. Would be a fun addition to a dr's office.

Paint the cover of the book with something fun/cute/pretty but in line with the medical theme of the book. Add a thin ribbon with or without a bow along the binding.

Sell them on Etsy as art supplies. There are literally hundreds of artisans there who would love to get such images and texts for their creations. Perhaps ask local artists about re using them. I like to redo hardcover books to look like vintage first editions and use them for decor props in my bookcases.
