A Paris Inspired Painted Hamper-Ooh La La!!

My latest DIY project is an old, beat up wood hamper and transforming it using paint, stencils, burlap and wax finish. For the complete tutorial, please check out my blog.
The look...vintage Paris...was achieved using paint, stain, crackle glaze, stencils and some Paris printed burlap.
This is the before pic. Plain brown plaid, rather scratched and gouged and weathered. Picked it up for $3 at a resale shop.
Painted the base with Annie Sloan French Linen Chalk Paint.
To add a more golden tone to the base, I used Americana Creme Wax in a medium brown. You wipe it on, then wipe off what you don't want to show on the piece.
I had lightly sanded the trim, just for a bit more distressed look. Painted on the wax, then wiped some of it away, leaving it in the cracks and crevices. For more details, click on the blog post here: http://countrydesignhome.com/2015/01/23/paris-inspired-painted-hamper-ooh-la-la/
Sanded, then re-stained the top in a slightly darker color.
Finished the top using crackle glaze and a top coat of Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint.
Stenciled the top with a Paris stencil from Americana. You can pick these up at Michaels for less than $10!
Embellished the front with this Paris printed burlap I got a Michaels-again less than $10 for 1.5 yards!!
When you cut burlap, it frays very easily, making it somewhat difficult to work with. I solved this by ironing some fusible interfacing on to the back, making sure I pressed all the way to the edge. That will stop the fraying.
I cut the burlap, then attached to the hamper front using Elmers Glue-All.
Just painted the area with a thick coat of glue, then pressed the fabric into place.
I added some handles to the sides. These were old painted brass ones I had on hand. They give it an authentic worn look. I added some feet for easy sliding, and now its ready to hold some dirty laundry while looking magnifique!
